In New York
So I'm backstage at the Nokia Theater waiting for our Big Apple show to begin with special guest Paul Rudd playing David's understudy. It should be a good night, and it's terrific to be back on the East Coast, where the weather is more temperate and I can feel my feet. Yesterday was a day off, so I spent the day at home getting reacquainted with my children. They've both grown A LOT since I left on tour. My son is in high school now. My daughter is with child and out of school altogether. So that's upsetting, but at the same time, at least I know she's fertile.
Some friends from my little town are coming tonight, which has the potential to be awkward. It's never great when the parents of your children's friends watch you simulate fucking onstage. That's the kind of thing where they could easily go, "We're not sure we want our children at Mr. Black's house." And what could I say in response other than "I understand."
We do two nights here in New York, then off to Boston where we are going to record a Stella DVD, which will be available for sale sometime next year. So if you can't catch us live, you'll be able to see the show on DVD! Or if you did see the show and want to relive the wonderfulness of it, you can do that too! Or if you want to expose your friends to Stella, this would also be a way to do that. Or if you dont' want to buy it at all, you could also do that. Which would be terrible.
Question: how much McDonalds have I eaten since being on the road?
Answer: lots

FIRST POST!
And, I'll see you in Boston, and I can't believe I can cherish that night forever in the form of a digital video disc!

YES!!!! I will be at the Boston show, nude. I want to get on the DVD, and I figure showing off my rock hard abs will be just the thing I need to attain stardom.

I am so pleased to hear you are recording a new Stella DVD! Another great item to put on my "All Things Awesome" Wish List for 2009. Please hurry.
P.S. Paul looks dreamy

Hope the DVD show goes better than tonight's show at the Nokia did. Not that I didn't enjoy myself but something seemed quite off. I blame that heckler. What a douchebag. I wanted to punch him, which I could have since he was sitting directly behind me. I should have. Would have been my Christmas gift to myself. Especially when he did the New York stomp and raked his man-ass against the back of my head. He left early to stand in line for your autograph. I hope you signed it Dear Asshole.

You can count me in as buying the DVD, since it's cheaper than an air fare to the US, sadly.
I hope your kids still have their friends...

>>So if you can't catch us live, you'll be able to see the show on DVD!>> Rapture! I will quit bitching about you not coming to Texas now! Merry Christmas.
Also, Grant -- I feel your pain. As much as comedians must hate hecklers, seriously, who doesn't want to crack a heckler head? There is nothing good about them or what they do. It's just attention-whoring obnoxiousness. Don't distract me from my Michaels damnit! I didn't come here to see YOU dumb old heckler.
Next time, definitely punch. I mean, Jesus turned the other cheek, but maybe it works with knuckles too. (Like turn the other knuckle? eh? I need to sleep.)

I've always wondered:
terrible and horrible is bad.
horrific is bad. so why is terrific good?
Am I missing something here?

Michael, I'm reading much less of your blog now that you don't publish a full RSS feed.
Please read this link: http://www.winextra.com/index.php/2008/12/10/dont-you-get-it-yet-partial-feeds-kill-readership/
it explains why partial rss feeds are a horrible idea to bring people to your site.

DVD!! Whee! I wish you well with all of the awkwardness. You'll be bringing Mr. Rudd as an understudy to the Berkeley show too right? I definately think you should. Because I would definately like to stare at him in that suit, in the flesh.
(Friday!!!!!)
Now I just need to figure out how to obtain a camera. Of course, mine broke. Why does the universe hate me?
p.s. My congratulations on the impending birth of your first(?)grandchild.

Can't wait for the Stella DVD! Last night I watched "Wedding Daze," which provided a wonderful dose of Michael Ian Black wit and whimsy. So many favorite moments: Cupid's baby oil, the Jewnicorn, the Jewlahoop, the novelty sunglasses, Margo Martindale saying "I'll cut you," Rob Corddry saying "Don't stop believing," every scene with the character Matador ... the list goes on and on. "Wedding Daze" is a great followup for my friends who already dig "Wet Hot American Summer," "The Ten," and the Stella series.

Hey Michael,
Not sure if you respond to this kind of thing, but I read about you trying to get another show going on comedy central. How does that go? I've got a show I'd like to pitch, but I can't talk to any channels without an agent. And the agents say you need to already have something produced or bought or whatever before they'll represent you. So is it all about just yelling louder than them until they actually listen to your show idea? Or did you pretty much have an in already through the State and Stella? Thanks for any help.

I'm so happy for my friends who get to see Stella but at the same time, forlorn that I shall never see all three together.

PJ -
Just get on your knees, and start sucking.

Mmm. The old "fellatio get a show" tactic. Sounds just about crazy enough to work.

I see you finally got the custom-made crotch camera working. Now all you need is to adjust for curvature.

just like everybody else, thanks for touring and staying after to meet the geeky fans. i didn't think i would ever get the chance to see stella live, and it didn't seem likely that we (my girlfriend and i) would be able to sustain the twelve-hour drive to do so. glad we did though, because it was way more than worth it! thanks for the pictures, too... we were so excited have our photo taken with a huge/famous/tall celebrity such as yourself.
